The Roc Scotland. Only race that gives me DOMS for longer than a day and only one that keeps me outside that comfort zone thoroughly. Also one that I can't wait to do again.

Weather disappointed this year 😂 and conditions were about 18 times better than 2023.
Friday.
Very smooth registration once again, mountain bag packed up and handled over. Think getting that bag ready and making a decision on what to wear and what to have spare was a challenge itself, especially after last year's storms 🤣
Quick chats, making new The Roc friends and carb loading time.
Saturday
Bike racking smooth again, still thinking about what to wear and when lol 😂
Headed to a start line which is just over a 1km away from T1/4. Swim in mysterious, black, fresh waters of Loch Leven was an interesting experience itself.

Came out finally, pretty cold. Trainers on and warm up run to T1/4.
Although everything ready, took a while to change due to cold ish hands and wet body.
Jumped on bike knowing what's waiting ahead 🤣. After last year's shocker, I've promised myself I'd do a lot of trail rides as I found it really different and challenging. I did 2 rides 😂. But oh well, it's called a challenge for a reason. I just don't do mtb..
First climb on tarmac hitting up to 21% assent was never ending lol. Bit it's after that climb where the real shit hits. Trails of rocky climbs. A little tarmac section and back onto trails. All tough. But the views man 😍 managed to cycle it all without walking / pushing. Weather was just a typical Scottish weather.
Got to T2/3. Quickest change ever, sticks, backpack and let's go. Again. I just kept moving stopping only couple of times to take a photo or let runners go. I do love Ben Nevis, nice hike. It got cold closer to the summit so put on my windproof & gloves. Everyone on the trail was mega friendly. Took me 2h to hike up and 45min to run down with a little lunch break at the top

Back to transition, only topped water up as all fuel already on bike.
The bike back was one of the toughest if not the toughest. Never ending hills and climbs and head wind. But views still nice. Legs were burning but kept going. Glad I took mtb this year.. No major issues, no health problems or injuries so all good. I was just looking forward to that tarmac decline towards the end. And I got there, then hit the final transition.

Just a run left, started pretty fast but soon hops seized up so slowed down. The trail mile was over and crossing that finish line made me all emotional again.

I don't mean make it look hard so as a disclaimer I'd like to tell you that last 3 years I'm racing with a lot of health issues. I suffer from 2 heart conditions, mental health, liver condition and a lot of injuries. Saying that, if I can do that challenging race, everyone can.
Give it a go, you won't be disappointed..
